Max Thompson, year 9 student, represented Kew High School in the State Final of the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Contest on 22nd October. Held in the Shrine of Remembrance the contest brought together 12 of the best junior public speakers from schools across Victoria.
The theme of Max's speech was personal effort. Elaborating his message with the plight of dairy farmers. An insightful and well delivered speech among a field of excellent speeches. The next step was a 2 minute impromptu speech on the topic of 'timing'. Students had just 5 minutes to craft a response and Max did an excellent job.
Junior public speaking is one of the opportunities for our students to develop communication and student voice. Students attend public speaking workshops and individual coaching.
